This swing is in progress. It has two motors and a different motion sensor than version 1. The seat is a new weaving, however it is too large for these motor mounts.

“Picking up the Pieces”, intaglio, lithography, thread.

Hundreds of small pieces of prints 2″x3″ were sewn together and hung from top of a wall.

“This place needs some COMFORT”, fuzzy fabric made into pillows.

Pillows line the floor of an art exhibit in an academic setting. Academia tends to be cold and traditional. My installation attempts to bring some warmth and comfort to the exhibition. I lined the pillows on the floor and creeping up columns as if to give the exhibition a hug.

The ‘A’ Swing

The ‘A’ Swing is based on my son’s love of swinging. Swinging helps soothe his anxiety and sensory disorder due to autism. When he swings it is very erratic and omnidirectional. The ‘A’ Swing is intended to cause uneasiness yet be mesmerizing for the viewer, mimicking the feelings felt by my son as he swings.

Installations featured at Aqua and Red Dot Art Fairs in Miami during Miami Basel

Anyone going to Miami next week for Miami Basel? Stop by these two fairs that will be featuring two of my installations. Represented by Eileen Braziel Gallery, TOUCH (multiples of crocheted yarn appendages) will be featured at Red Dot Art Fair. WARM AND FUZZIES (furry fabric mounds) will be featured in the lobby of the Aqua Hotel which hosts the Aqua Art Fair.

MELT was installed at the beginning of August. In three months the dust covered mounds blend in with the New Mexico landscape. The dirt is embedded in the sand and the soap is encrusted with leaves and bugs.
